1 Week Update!✨ So much I couldn’t say in the reel but here are some key points: - Second skin is a personal preference, not a necessity (It was necessary in my case cause of work) - When removing second skin it can be done dry as I demonstrated or under running water (most people find it easier to remove under water) - DO NOT pull the second skin away from the skin like a wax strip!!! Whatever edge you pull from, ensure you pull in the same direction & close to the skin (think command strip). You are essentially “stretching” the second skin so it lifts off the skin easily - Once removed, clean your tattoo with either an antibacterial or unscented soap & rinse under water (don’t wipe the way I did) - Pat dry & allow your tattoo to dry for a couple minutes before applying your ointment/balm. NO Vaseline, creams or oils PLEASEEEE! You can use A&D ointment or Aquaphor (or what your artist recommends) - Some of the scab will come off with your second skin, whatever scab remains leave it to come off in its own. DO NOT pick/pull it. You will be putting yourself at risk for infection & can potentially pull out the pigment - Once the initial scab comes off, it does not mean your tattoo is fully healed. There is this a second shiny/transparent layer that also has to come off. Tattoos generally take between 4-6 weeks to be fully healed but can take less or more time depending on how your body heals If you made it this far, thanks for reading & happy healing!🫶🏽
