FIRST STRIPE. 🥋❤️ Yesterday my son earned his first stripe in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. His coach and professor told us they’ve been watching him over these last four months—how much he’s picked up, his drive to become better, his consistency, and even the subtle little changes he makes every time he steps on those mats. None of it has gone unnoticed, and he earned this. But as his dad, this means so much more to me than a stripe on a belt. I’m watching my son build discipline, confidence, respect and determination at an age where I wish I had those same foundations. I’m breaking cycles and starting something new with my children. They don’t have to inherit all of my struggles—they can inherit the lessons I learned from them. And I have to give a HUGE thank you to his coaches, his professor, and everyone at this gym who has given us a chance, invested their time into us, and helped guide him along the way. Even my Muay Thai instructor has played a part in this journey and has helped encourage him and push us forward. I walked into this place looking for somewhere for my son and me to train… and somehow we found a family. You guys took us in, treated us like we belonged, and I’ll forever be grateful for that. This might be his first stripe, but I know it’s only the beginning. Keep showing up, son. Keep learning. Keep earning it. I’ll be right there beside you doing the same.
