Giant exposed brain, crazy eyeballs, the works!!! Everybody else was going about their business, getting tattooed at this convention, while Mr. Mars attacks was slowing down foot traffic long enough to take a selfie of just a pic of it, like I did.

If you never heard of Mars Attacks!, Tim Burton released the science-fiction comedy in 1996, featuring Martians with oversized brains and unpleasant attitude toward the human race, lol. The characters actually originated in a Topps trading card series back in 1962. You have to admit, that’s pretty impressive. Think about it…… These ugly fuckers have managed to maintain a following for more than sixty years.

I’m all for welcoming visitors from other planets, but look at this guy, he’s going to vaporize anything that crosses his path!

There’s a connection to the growing interest in sci-fi tattoos, horror movie tattoos, and characters that refuse to disappear from popular culture. A film can come and go, but its characters can remain popular subjects for tattoo artists decades later. From alien portraits to elaborate science-fiction sleeves, there’s plenty of room for artists to have fun with designs that don’t have to obey the laws of nature.

And if you’re considering a Mars Attacks! tattoo or another movie-inspired design, Inker gives you a place to discover tattoo artists and explore their work. Finding an artist who can handle the details matters, particularly when your reference material has more visible brain tissue than the average human anatomy textbook.

As for my little green friend, who was successful and getting my attention, kudos to his owner and his marketing tactics.

If anyone out there is sporting a Mars Attacks tattoo, will you please message us. I’d like to interview you and send you an Inker mystery box.
